on the first sunday following armistice day the sydney maori anglican fellowship church of te wairua tapu holds a remembrance service and invites the nz veterans in nsw to participate.
this year the president ron haira and vice president brian o'donohue read the scriptures. greg makutu gave the speech about the history of the poppy and why autsralia and new zealand remember at different times of the year. nz sell poppies on the day before anzac whereas australia sell poppies on armistice day. this was followed by the laying of poppies at the cenotaph containing the nz flag, korowai and the three service hats (rnzn, nz army, rnzaf). the service concluded with the playing of the last post.
