Karakia is conducted in both English and Maori and the Eucharistic meal is offered to all

Pastoral Care

We offer a range of services from visiting people in their homes during their time of need and visiting the sick in hospital, offering Karakia, support and encouragement. We also provide care and support for individuals and families during Tangihana (funeral process)

Background: I spent my childhood and teenage years growing up in Waimanoni, a small rural community just north of Kaitaia. My first job was fencing with some of my uncles before heading to work in Mangatu Forest, Gisborne. I then worked in Auckland for a couple of years before making the decision to leave Aotearoa/New Zealand for Sydney in 1981 and have made Sydney my home. In 1996, I attended St. John’s Theological College, Auckland for 5yrs. After completing a bachelor degree in theology and a diploma in secondary school teaching, I returned to Sydney at the end of 2000 to become the 4th Chaplain to the Maori Anglican Community of Sydney. The late Sir Kingi Ihaaka was the first Chaplain, followed by Te Wheoki (Jim) Tahere and Ngarahu Katene. I served in both Jim and Ngarahu’s Ministry teams. I am husband to Pat and father to Nathan

Background: I am a Kaikarakia at the Church of Te Wairua Tapu and I also work for Telstra as an Underground Cable Layer. I enjoy playing competitive Squash as one of my leisure activities
