I come from feilding but my dad came from te araroa. after secondary school i joined the nz army in 1980 and left in 2002 after serving overseas in cambodia and east timor. although i left the army in 2002 my involvement in the veteran community has remained passionate and my relocation to sydney in 2005 gave me the opportunity to increase my involvement with a wider group of nz veterans all around australia

however a recent nz veteran partnership with the church has created another opportunity for me to provide the same level of support to the church and its mission. i treasure this opportunity as it is a continual reminder of not only the importance religion has had in my life but also the whanaungatanga with the church fellowship and community resulting in a strengthened sense of cultural identity
